The Beat, Eddie Brown Center for the Arts, is a non-profit dance center located in Berkeley, CA, which serves the Greater Bay Community and surrounding areas. Our particular focus on the vernacular dance form of rhythm tap is especially emphasized to inner city youth and "at risk" kids who might otherwise not have access to the arts. Rhythm tap incorporates jazz rhythms along with lost dance forms that are specific to the African-American community and provide a direct artistic link to their cultural heritage.
